Counselling in Stamford & Peterborough
‘We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.’
Carl Rogers, one of the founders of the humanistic approach to counselling 1902-1987.
I am here to listen to your unique life story…
Are you feeling really low, trapped in your mind and can’t see a way out?
Are you feeling anxious and experiencing panicky feelings?
Do you often think you are not good enough and compare yourself to others?
Have you just experienced a loss such as divorce or a bereavement and you are feeling overwhelmed by grief and huge emotions?
These are just some of the questions that can bring a person to look for professional support.
We are living in extremely uncertain times which can shine a spotlight on any personal issues that have been troubling you for a while. These times can in fact provide an opportunity to delve a bit deeper into the inner self and find out what the causes are and how to feel better whilst creating an overall sense of wellbeing and a stronger belief and sense of self.
Counselling is essentially a transformational therapeutic process that allows a person to find a way to work through and understand their thoughts and feelings which can result in a cognitive shift in seeing things differently. This can result in subtle but profound changes which enables the person to confidently move into the future.
Some of the benefits of working with a counsellor are:
- I provide a safe, non-judgemental space to explore and discuss your thoughts and navigate your feelings.
- I can help you to understand how events in the past can affect the way you are living in the present. The obstacles that stop people moving forward are often related to past experiences and unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours.
- The process helps you to look at things differently and discover various coping strategies. Together we can talk through your difficulties and identify solutions so that you can make appropriate changes.
- I can support you whilst you work through your issues so that you eventually feel more in control of your day to day life.

The Initial Session
